This evening, HBO premieres our film, 'Prom Night in Mississippi', and it's especially important to Patricia Aquino, my producing partner, Thabi Moyo, our associate producer, and myself to take this moment and say thanks to everyone who worked hard and long on making PNIM the powerful film that it is.
We've just returned from New York where HBO held a wonderful reception and screening, co-sponsored by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). Morris Dees, co-founder of the SPLC, spoke and we were most grateful for his kind words of appreciation for the film and his hopes that it would be seen extensively in America, especially in schools and universities across the country.
HBO brought two of the 'stars' of the film, Chasidy Buckley and Jessica Shivers, up from Mississippi for the event and they, along with Lecia Brooks of the SPLC and myself fielded the questions after the screening. It was a superb evening with a great crowd, fine food, good wine and to make it even sweeter: reviews and press pieces in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and many more across the country.
Finally, though, we were reviewed today on The Huffington Post, which means....we've arrived!!!!
